How vaporwave text works
Vaporwave text gets its look from full-width characters: a complete set of Latin letters, digits and punctuation that Unicode includes for East Asian typesetting, where every character occupies the same square. Dropped into English text, they stretch words out into the wide, even rhythm of 1990s-inspired album art.
Letter width switches every card between full-width and regular letters. Extra spacing adds one or two spaces between letters on top of that — with full-width letters, the spaces are full-width too, so the rhythm stays even. UPPERCASE is the default because capitals fill the square best, but lowercase has its own softer look.
The cards add classic frames: 【 】 lenticular brackets, 「 」 corner quotes, ░ shaded blocks between letters and ▽ triangles. Wide text uses more space than it looks like: in bios with tight limits, a single full-width word can take up a noticeable share. What are full-width letters?
They’re versions of Latin letters designed to take up the same width as Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters. Their wide, even spacing is what gives vaporwave text its stretched look.
Can I make regular text spaced out instead?
Yes. Set Letter width to Regular and add extra spacing. You’ll get spaced-out normal letters, which is narrower than full-width.
Why do some punctuation marks stay narrow?
Full-width forms exist for letters, digits and common punctuation like ! ? . and , — other symbols keep their normal width.
Does vaporwave text fit in a bio?
Full-width letters look about twice as wide, and extra spacing adds characters. Keep it to a word or two in short bios.
