How cursed text works
Cursed text works in two layers. The first is style mixing: each letter is drawn at random from the alphabets you’ve switched on — Faux Cyrillic look-alikes, small caps, Fraktur, script, currency symbols or plain letters. The words stay readable, but something feels off, like a sign in a dream.
The second layer is the same combining-mark effect behind glitch text. Intensity sets how many marks pile onto each letter, Density sets how many letters are affected, and the Direction toggles send marks up, through or down. The Mix only preset turns the marks off completely if you want just the scrambled alphabets.
Both layers share one seed, shown as the variation number. That keeps the result stable while you type — adding a word never reshuffles earlier letters — and Randomize gives you a fresh combination of letters and marks together. For pure marks without the alphabet mixing, use the Glitch or Zalgo generator.
Heads up: Look-alike letters and marks both break search and screen readers. Use cursed text for fun, never for names or information people need.
Frequently asked questions
What makes text “cursed” instead of just glitchy?
Cursed text also swaps letters between alphabets — a Cyrillic-looking Я here, a small-caps ᴀ there, a gothic 𝔢 next — so the words look subtly wrong even before the marks are added.
Can I choose which alphabets get mixed?
Yes. Toggle Faux Cyrillic, Small caps, Gothic, Script, Currency and Plain letters. At least one stays on, and adding Plain letters keeps the text more readable.
Why does Randomize change the letters too?
The same seed drives both the alphabet mix and the marks. A new seed gives a new combination of both, while typing more text keeps what you already have.
Is cursed text safe to paste?
Yes, it’s only text. Very heavy marks can overlap other lines in some apps, so keep intensity moderate in group chats.
